Religious Education
Through Religious Education (RE) we aim for the children to develop an understanding of religious beliefs and practices in our multi-cultural society.
Scheme of Work
Our scheme of work is based on the Gloucestershire Agreed Syllabus, studying aspects of the Christian and Jewish faiths. Cross-curricular links with other subjects are explored when the topic is appropriate.
Assemblies
School Assemblies are broadly Christian in nature and follow the
Christian calendar. Stories are told from other faiths and cultures with the
children being made aware of their religious festivals and celebrations in order
to foster a respect for individual beliefs in our society.
We invite visiting speakers from a variety of backgrounds and
organisations to talk to the children on a regular basis. Children themselves
also take part in presenting assemblies.
Withdrawal from RE and Assemblies
Parents/carers may withdraw their children from Assemblies and RE lessons following discussion with the headteacher.
